The Toyota Innova Crysta is offered in a total of four variants – GX, GX Plus, VX, and ZX. In today’s video, we are going to talk about its very base variant, which is the GX, and the one you are looking at here is in white color.
The ex-showroom price of this car starts at ₹18.66 lakh and goes up to ₹25.27 lakh. In today’s review, we’ll discuss in detail what Toyota is offering in this base variant. Currently, this variant is the most sold one in the lineup, especially in this color. Prices have come down slightly after GST 2.0. Let’s explore all the features and details now.

At ₹18.66 lakh, you get both 7-seater and 8-seater options in this variant. From the front, the car looks elegant and practical.
Front Design and Exterior Details
From the front, this car’s look is something like this. You get halogen-based headlamps and halogen parking lights. Fog lights can be added as an accessory from Toyota. The indicators are integrated. Now, let’s look at the interiors. The cabin layout looks premium in glossy black finish. The door pads have a good design, and the keys are provided in flip style with lock and unlock functions. You’ll get two normal keys with this car. Push start button is available from the VX variant onwards. GX and GX Plus do not get this feature.
Dashboard Layout and Instrument Cluster
The interior layout is simple yet functional. One AC vent on the driver’s side, bottle holder, and hood opening lever. Fuel tank opener and parking sensor on/off switch are also present. The steering is tilt-adjustable but not telescopic. The instrument cluster has white illumination with 200 km/h marking. Headlight controls and wiper stalk are standard.
The infotainment screen is 8 inches and supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay but only via wired connection. There’s a clock, hazard switch, manual AC, and eco/power drive modes. No automatic climate control in GX. The gearbox is manual, and when you engage reverse, only sensor sound works—no camera. Bottle holders, storage space, handbrake, traction on/off switch, and an armrest with storage are provided.
Infotainment & Controls
There’s a Type-A USB port but no Type-C yet. The seats are fabric in grey color and offer decent comfort. The upper variants offer better seat materials. Sun visors have mirrors and ticket holders. In terms of safety, you get 3 airbags (front dual + driver knee airbag). ABS with EBD is standard. Side and curtain airbags start from higher variants.
Engine and Performance
Under the hood, you get a 2.4L diesel engine producing 149 PS of power and 360 Nm of torque. The engine feels extremely powerful and refined. Toyota engines are known for reliability — capable of running easily over 5–6 lakh kilometers without issues. The roar of this diesel engine adds to the Toyota fan excitement. The driving experience is smooth and confidence-inspiring.
While this base variant is manual only, the engine’s response and torque make it enjoyable. Toyota discontinued the automatic in Crysta diesel after launching the Hycross models with petrol and hybrid options. However, the diesel Crysta remains a workhorse — reliable, powerful, and easy to maintain.

The tailgate opens manually with an electromagnetic button. Boot space can be increased by folding the third-row seats. The spare wheel is mounted underneath and is a steel wheel.
