Key and Front Design

Let’s quickly start the review. Standing in front of me is the Hero Splendor Plus XT Disc Variant.
First, let’s start with the key. You get a simple normal key with Hero branding.
You will not see a flip key here.

In the new Splendor Plus, the front visor comes as a single piece, but the graphics are brand new.
This pattern was seen earlier as well, but now you get wide red graphics which look completely new.

Lighting Setup

This variant comes with LED DRL while the headlight setup is still halogen.
Indicators are fitted here with transparent bulbs.
The mudguard is a single-piece unit.

Front Suspension and Brakes

You get telescopic suspension and reflectors on both sides of the suspension.
Although ABS is not available, the company provides a factory-fitted 240 mm rotor with IBS, which means Integrated Braking System.

If you apply the front brake, the rear brake automatically engages.
At the rear, a 130 mm drum brake is provided.

In the disc variant, the braking mechanism is completely new.
The brake lever is new and the triple tree is also changed.
The suspension is also different because additional nut bolts have been added.

The suspension of the normal variant cannot be fitted in this model.
There is also an additional clamp added here.
So the disc variant is quite different even though it may look similar from outside.

Design and Graphics

On the tank you get the Hero 3D emblem.
The graphics are similar to the old variant but the pattern is new.

On the side panel you get the Splendor Plus 3D emblem and XT branding.
The side seat cowl is fully gloss black with i3S sticker branding.

Personally, I like this color combination more because red on black looks very attractive and eye-catching.

Color Options

You can also see another color here which also comes with the disc variant — glossy black with blue.
The one I am showing today is the black and red color.

There is another color combination which comes with drum brakes — black and silver with new graphics.

Next to it you can see the Hero Splendor Plus XT 2.0 matte color variant.
However, it does not come with a disc brake.

Tyres and Wheels

At the front you get 80/100 section tubeless tyres with 18-inch alloy wheels.
The rear tyre is also the same 80/100 tubeless tyre with 18-inch alloy wheel.

You will not see rim tape on either front or rear wheels.
The hydraulic suspension comes in glossy black with silver coating and is adjustable.

Utility Box

The design of the utility box in the Splendor Plus disc variant has been changed.
Compared to the old variant, the size of the utility box has increased slightly.

You also get chrome element form sticker branding here.

Engine Specifications

Talking about the engine, it still comes with the same old flat engine design.
It is BS6 Phase 2 compliant and now also OBD2B compliant.

You get an O2 sensor on the catalytic converter and another O2 sensor behind the catalytic converter.
Earlier the engine used to come with OBD2A compliance.

Power and Torque

The engine is 97.2cc and produces 7.9 bhp at 8000 rpm and 8.05 Nm torque at 6000 rpm.
It comes with a four-gear transmission and hill-and-toe shifter.

It is an air-cooled single-cylinder two-valve engine with Hero branding.

Top Speed

According to the company claim, the top speed of this variant is approximately 87 km/h.

Exhaust and Footrests

The exhaust pipe gets good protection and the catalytic converter comes in matte grey color.
The muffler has a full chrome finish and its length has been increased.

The rider footrest comes with rubber coating and the pillion footrest is also foldable with rubber coating.
The rear brake pedal comes in silver finish.

Weight and Ground Clearance

The overall kerb weight is 113.6 kg and the ground clearance provided is 165 mm.

Seat and Comfort

The seat height is 785 mm.
The seat is flat but designed with a slight flick design.

You also get white stitching on the corners.
The seat cushioning is medium soft — not too hard and not too soft.

However, the disc variant does not come with a rear carrier.
Instead, it gets a single-piece grab rail.

Rear Design

At the rear you get a bulb tail lamp and bulb indicators.
The indicators are slightly flexible.

The mudguard design is similar to the older model with a small reflector.

However, the XT 2.0 variant gets a slightly different and bulkier mudguard design along with a carrier.

Left Side Features

On the left side you get a company-fitted saree guard and ladies footrest.
The bike comes with a closed chain cover made of metal.

In HF Deluxe the chain cover has become fiber, but the disc variant still uses metal.

It also comes with side stand with engine cut-off sensor and dual stand option.

Instrument Console

Hero Splendor Plus XT Speedometer

Although the console is not turned on here because the battery is not connected, I will still explain the features.

The instrument console offers Bluetooth connectivity, call and message alerts, odometer, trip meter, and real-time mileage display.

There is a button to toggle through the information on the console.

Warning Indicators

The console includes indicators for section warning, high beam, engine check light, i3S warning, neutral, and low oil warning.

A chrome border is also provided around the console.

USB Charging and Switchgear

Hero Splendor Plus XT i3S
Hero Splendor Plus XT i3S

You get a USB charging port which allows you to charge devices on the go.
It would have been better if it was a Type-C port.

On the right side you get the i3S technology on/off button and the self start button.

On the left side you get high-low beam switch, indicator switch and horn.
The passing switch is missing.

Hazard Light

This variant also comes with hazard lights which allow all four indicators to blink together.
So you do not need to install aftermarket hazard lights.

Who Should Buy This Variant

If you are a young rider who likes to ride at higher speeds, I would recommend this disc variant.
The disc brake significantly improves braking performance compared to the normal drum brake version.

However, if you want maximum mileage and low maintenance, you can choose the normal drum brake variant.

Price

If you want to purchase this variant in Kolkata, the updated on-road price after 18% GST is ₹1,10,410.
